Honestly, from the first glance, the Geely Coolray gives off a seriously sporty vibe. The front has an aggressive grille and a lower spoiler that looks like carbon fiber. The side mirrors have the same carbon-style design, and in the back, there's a stylish open wing and quad exhaust pipes that really complete the aggressive look. The version I got has some features that are locked, but they can be upgraded later on without much hassle.
Before I bought it, I considered cars like the Toyota Corolla, Yaris Cross, and even hybrids like the Corolla Hybrid and Drive. I also looked at Honda models like the XRV and Civic. But they were all noticeably more expensive, and honestly, their interior materials and features didn’t match what the Coolray offered. I hesitated a bit because of fuel efficiency—some hybrids like the Corolla claim 3.7L/100km—but after hearing about common issues like clogged filters, battery degradation after 5–6 years, and the cost of replacing batteries (which can go over AED 10,000), I decided to skip the hybrid route.
The Coolray was the perfect middle ground: sporty looks, great features, and a price that fits my budget. Sure, it’s missing a few things like a center headrest in the back, rear AC vents, and a trunk cover—but for the price I paid, I can live with that. No one in my family is taller than 170 cm anyway, so space is more than enough for us.
As for performance, I’m still in the break-in period, but I’ve tested it on national roads, and overtaking is smooth and easy. The 8-speed gearbox makes driving feel seamless and helps save fuel. The lowest fuel consumption I got was 5.5L/100km, which is around 40 fils per kilometer—really impressive!
What surprised me the most was the sound insulation: under 80 km/h, you can’t even hear the engine! It feels like driving an EV. There's just a bit of wind noise, but that’s it. Honestly, the Geely Coolray gave me the experience of a more premium car at a very reasonable price. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a sporty, economical, and practical ride.
